Reflection: Extra credit

Over the course of my year in this class i have liked some assignments and i have disliked some assignments. Overall my favorite Thing we did was the first movie assignment about Of Mice and Men. I liked it the best because i liked how mine turned out and it was really fun to do as a group. My least favorite assignment would have to be every 5 part paragraph we have done. I didn't like these because they seemed like not a lot of work so i didn't worry about it and then when i started doing it it took quite a long time and i stayed up pretty late sometimes. As an honorable mention for my favorite assignment i would have to say the Epic poem because it was a challenge but it made me be creative and i had fun doing it.

O Brother, Where Art Thou

My favorite part of the movie O Brother, Where Art thou is when probably the part when they sing to the guy with the eye patch. I liked this part because the song was really good and it actually sounds like George Clooney is singing. Unfortunately he is not and it is just some guy that actually sings. I also like it because that song is what makes them famous and aids Everett getting his wife back.

Waiting so nervous for the solo to come sweat dripping down my chest.

Think of when you turn outside for warmth and compassion and when you get there you get a rain drop and your arm. You don't wipe it off and it just slides down your arm until it is irresistible but before you brush it off it runs down to your finger tickling you making you shiver. This is what it felt like in those hour long like seconds before my solo.

Project

For the Of Mice and Men project me, Ian, Beck, Nate and Nolan are making a movie trailer for the book. We have assigned Beck the part of playing Lennie, because he is the one who most fits the part. Ian has also picked out the place we are filming the movie already. Another thing we have done in preparation for the project is think about what important parts we want to have in the film.
One of the parts we plan to highlight in the trailer is the farm where Lennie and George went to work after Weed. Nolan is planning to play the parts of Curly's wife and Curly. Other than that we have not put much thought into our project considering we have not finished the book. Finally we will have Ian put special effects in and edit it to get our final trailer.

Well there are alot of things i though throughout reading and watching the book. One of which was i really think Romeo needs to man up a little and stop crying over Juliet. His whole life revolves around her and that determines his mood and everything. I don't think there was a single part where Romeo was just chillin with his bros talkin about guy stuff. Also about the last scene i really hate it beacause the whole story is about love and they both end up dead so that pisses me off.

Romeo and Juliet picture

I decided that this was an appropriate picture to represent what i think Juliet's room would look like if she were real. This would most likely be what her room would look like because she seems to me kind of like a little girl and this is like a little girls room. Also i think her parents would make her keep her room clean because they are rich and have a maid so that also would resemble what her room would be like. Finally i think this is what Juliet's room would look like because it is pink and she obviously likes pink.

Act two

In act two of what we have read so far there have been two things that jumped out at me that i thought were very interesting. They are the reaction Friar Lawrence had when Romeo came to him and asked him to marry him and Juliet. Also i though it was quite odd how Nurse acted toward Juliet telling her that she wanted to go off and marry Romeo. If i were in either of their shoes i would probably not have done the same thing considering that Romeo and Juliet's parents are enemies.
First the night after Romeo talked to Juliet on the balcony when he went to ask Friar Lawrence to marry them his reaction surprised me. He agreed to and then said that he thought that them getting married might end their parents dispute. Also when Juliet told Nurse to go give Romeo her message she did not protest either even knowing that is was Romeo, the son of Master Montague. I would definitely not have done this considering that i could lose my job if my boss had found out what i had done.

Character

A character in the book that i think would be interesting to meat in real life would be Benvolio, Romeo's cousin. From the way he treats everyone i think he would be a cool guy to hang out with. When Romeo was depressed he was nice to him and he gave him suggestions about his depression like a good friend. Also when they were going to the party it was Mercutio who was making fun of Romeo and Benvolio said nothing.
Another reason why i would be interested to meat Benvolio in life is because he likes a lot of the things i like i think. On the way to the party when the guys were talking he said he wanted to get to the party and dance, which i like to do. All these things would be reasons why it would be fun to meet Benvolio. Mostly because he is a nice, sensitive, caring friend that even though you might be acting different or be sad like Romeo, he would be there.

Premonitions

On multiple occasions, right when i go to bed i remember that my ipod is downstairs and not plugged into my ihome. I am already in bed at this time so i decide not to go downstairs and get it. It may not sound that bad but in the morning it is the thing that wakes me up and without it i just sleep in. This is when i have a bad feeling that i will be late for school the next day because i woke up to late.
The next morning i wake up and it is 7:20 and i haven't even taken a shower yet. I think about how i should of just gotten out of bed, went down stairs and got my ipod but it is to late for that. I take a quick shower, get dressed and get somehting to eat then ride to school as fast as i can. Unfortunately it is to late and i get another tarty just because i wouldn't walk downstairs.

Shakespear Stories

One movie i found that had many instances of plots and ideas from Shakespeare plays was Ferris Bueller's Day Off. One of there parts was when the principal was out looking for Ferris and he finds himself in an pizza parlor. He thinks he sees him and he walks up to the person and says something mean, and the her person turns around and its not him showing mistake identity. It seems like when there is a mistake identity in a Shakespeare play it is funny and in Ferris Bueller's Day off it was too.
Another instance where there is a plot in the movie Ferris Bueller's day off that is like one from Skakespeare is how Cameron's dad loves his car more that life itself. Although they didn't show the part at then end when Cameron faces his day you know he has to choose between the car and his son. This is kind of like a love triangle in that there are two things he loves and they conflict eachother so he has to chose one. Since the car was destroyed in the end and Cameron is taking the blame for it i think his father will choose Cameron becasue he is sticking up for himself.

Shakespeare

As we watch more and more of Shakespeare's movie i am surprised at the ways he writes and it is a lot easier to understand than i thought i would be. It is not hard to get used to though, this is because it is easy to relate it to other movies i have seen, and it uses lots of humor that i can understand. However there are somethings that are harder about it. Such as the two meanings to the words and all the people have weird names that you cant remember.
A part that surprised me in this movie was the setting and the variety of props. It was weird to see bikes with lights in what looked like and 1800 setting in a small village. Also the humor and writing of Shakespeare surprised me, i thought it would be much more proper but there is stuff that is in movies now days like sex and nudity. Even though this movie is kinda weird and hard to follow i am very excited to start reading Romeo and Juliet next week. I think i will enjoy it very much because i enjoy good writing and interesting love stories.

Worst part of Animal Farm

I think the worst part of animal farm in the parts that we have read was when Napoleon drove Snowball out of animal farm so he could have power. This was the worst part i think because of what this action did to the farm after Snowball was gone. If Snowball had not been run out i think with his leadership the farm would have been much better off. They would have kept up their good harvests and not broken all the rules that Snowball made for the farm in the first place.
When Napoleon did this i was angry because i thought Snowball was a good leader and he was much more fair and just all around better. If it had not been for Napoleons malevolent act of greed the farm would not have manipulated the farm and broken the 7 commandments. Also since the other animals on the animal farm like the horses and sheep are not so smart this was all easy for Napoleon to cover up and change the rules like they had always been like that. I think he is just mean and unfair to the animals just because they are not as smart as he is.

Animal Farm Insight

I really like the book because the way i learn history the best and like to learn history is not via reading directly about it. These metaphors that make up the book are really interesting and it is easy for me to figure them out. Mainly like who the characters represent and also i like how some characters represent a group of people or an ism. The bird thing for example represents religion and i can see that and it makes sense.
Not only does it make it easy to learn about the Russian revolution I also enjoy the fable/short story aspect of the book. I have always enjoyed reading fables because in the end you learn something and you can never expect another book or something else to go on. Finally i think it is fun to think about some of the things the animals are doing in the book. For example firing a gun, a horse stunning a human and building a windmill.

Winter break

Little did i know that when i woke up the next day the ground would be covered with beautiful snow. It would also kick off a very fun, very white winter break filled with fun. over the course of this winter break i went sledding, hung out with friends, played my new computer and i had a new years eve party at my house. My favorite of these was most definitely the party on new years, with only two of my friends, one of which was Nolan. We drank, sparkling cider of course, we watched movies and even messaged a guy random stuff on WOW chat for 2 hours. This was all super fun and that is why i think it was my favorite thing i did this winter break.
